Abstract
Auditory Brain Stem Responses(ABR) evoked by click stimuli which were generated by NIC-1007A click stimulator and delivered monaurally with an acoustically shielded headphone, amplified and averaged by Nicolet CA-1000 clinical signal averaging computer were recorded in 30 normal full term newborn infants within 3 days of birth. The frequency of the click stimuli was 11/sec and 2000 evoked responses were averaged in the first 10msec at each click intensity of 7 different intensities from 15 to 75dB.
The responses of the first 10msec were generally composed of three main waves, I, III, and V. As the intensity of the click was lowered, the latency of each wave was prolonged and amplitude decreased. The peak latencies of wave I, III, and V at 75 dB level were 2.14¡¾0.49 msec, 5.03¡¾0.44 msec, and 7.16¡¾0.37 msec respectively. The interpeak latencies between the waves at the same level were 2.81¡¾0.25 msec ( I to III), 2.15¡¾0.19 msec (III to V), and 4.96¡¾0.25 msec( I to V).
